 “The cattle have nearly all died. The horses also.

          “I joined the Kolkhoz 3 weeks ago.  They made me pay so many taxes that life became burden.”

 

             Woman came crying: “They’re killing us.  In my village there used to be 300 cows and now there are only 30.  The horses have gone, died. How can I feed us all?”

                Man:  “I have a family of 10 people.  How can I live?”

 

Woman: “And the kulaks! Look at what they call the Kulaks.  Just working peasants who have a cow or two. They are murdering the peasants, sending them all away.  Oppression, oppression, oppression.

 

They said, “How can the harvest be good.  We haven’t had enough horses and they don’t give us enough to eat.”Went on further. Spoke girl. and young man.  Both said, “We have nothing.  If it were not for Moscow we should starve.  No potatoes

A hundred went from Moscow, It is terrible We live here because we are near Moscow.

             In Chelyabinsk it is terrible. Disease is carrying away numbers of people and the food is uneatable.

 

           “I have traveled throughout Russia as a skilled worker. I get  300 roubles a month, but it is almost impossible to live.

         “Take education. If you are not a Komosomlti you have little chance of getting on.

          There were two Ikons. Mother:  “My little boy said, ‘Take it down. It’s no use’ ‘I said:  ‘It’s for me But do you want tp put a photo of Lenin?’ ‘No ‘he said, ‘because Lenin took the bread away from us.’
